Fast-Fix Screw Pot Hanging Cowl

The Fast-Fix Screw Pot Hanging Cowl is designed for use with MI-FLEX 316 and 904 flexible flue liners as part of a complete chimney liner installation system. It is fitted at the top of the chimney pot and allows the flexible liner to be secured without the need to remove the existing chimney pot.

This cowl features an integrated rain cap and bird guard, helping to reduce rainwater entry while also preventing birds, vermin and debris from entering the flue. It is especially useful where the appliance does not have a condensate drain, as it helps limit excess water passing down through the chimney system.

The pot hanging cowl also helps support the vertical weight of the flexible flue liner from the chimney pot. The chimney pot, stack and flaunching must be in sound condition before installation.

General Application

This item is intended for use with MI-FLEX multi-fuel flexible flue liner. Flexible flue liners must be installed fully enclosed within a suitable masonry chimney, in line with Building Regulations Document J. Non-masonry enclosures, such as timber or plasterboard boxing, are not suitable.

The product is suitable for use with appliances rated up to 600°C / T600 designation, subject to correct installation and compatibility with the full flue system.

Specific Application

This screw-fix pot hanging cowl is designed to comply with the relevant BS EN standard. It attaches to the flexible liner using the standard jubilee fixing method and is suitable for MI-FLEX systems only.

Maintenance

The chimney system should be installed in a way that allows safe access for sweeping, inspection and maintenance. Sweeping must be carried out by a competent person. For solid fuel installations, a HETAS registered chimney sweep is recommended.

Stainless steel chimney systems must not be swept using chemical cleaners or mild steel tools. The chimney should be inspected and cleaned at least once a year, although solid fuel systems are generally recommended to be swept twice a year: once at the end of the heating season to remove deposits, and again before the next heating season to check for blockages such as bird nests or debris.
